It was an easy enough job. At five one morning, Bruno took the keys of one of the Delaney scrapyard lorries with no number plates. He drove it across town to the place, as instructed, and pulled up outside. He sat there a moment, listening to Queen and Bowie pounding out ‘Under Pressure’. He stared at the unlit neon sign over the red double doors, the beautiful windows, the images of fantastically attractive girls.

People were moving all around the city, even at this early hour, but Bruno wasn’t bothered, not even when he saw one man passing in the street pause and watch what he was doing.

Bruno drove the lorry out across the road, then slammed the thing into reverse. With a scream of the accelerator the lorry shot backwards. The impact of it hitting the front of the club was deafening. Glass flew out in a crystalline shower, glossy images shattered, the frontage collapsed.

The onlooker stood there, mouth open, astonished.

Bruno threw the lorry into gear and sped away.
